While light therapy is the most common treatment for SAD, a holistic approach incorporating essential oils is recommended for best results. Along with increased exposure to light, regular exercise, and good nutrition, an aromatic bath before bedtime can greatly enhance sleep and provide a psychologically rejuvenating experience.
We have learned that essential oils can make a transformative difference in improving quality of life during the cold winter months. The appropriate use of essential oils can relieve Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) that often causes varying degrees of depression, a general loss of energy, and insomnia or restlessness at night.
While there are other possible causes, we feel less energetic, depressed and catching more colds and flu as our immune system is depressed. In turn, weight creeps up and we long for a good nights sleep. In essence, SAD can affect every area of our life.
