Description

French Green Clay (Illite) is a beautiful fine, light green/gray clay. Illite is found in the Northern regions of France and is a highly absorbent clay absorbing 30% of water. Illite clay contains less magnesium than the Montmorillonite clay, and has an 8-12% remineralisaiton power. It is great for detoxificaiton and decongestion. Active minerals are calcium, silicium, mineral oxides, magnesium, potassium, dolomite, silica, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, copper, and selenium, as well as a small percentage of montmorillonite.

This clay is hand extracted, sundried, and ground to a fine powder.

Traditional experience shows when used on the skin, the clay absorbs the toxins, dead skin and oily substances, increasing blood flow to the epidermis. It tightens the pores, revitalizing the complexion.

Other external uses are:

  1. Use as a poultice on a boil or other skin issue.  Make a thick paste, let it set for a few hours and then apply to the area of concern about 1/4 of an inch thick.  Wrap with gauze to keep in place allowing it to "work" for up to 2 hours.  If the area is too painful to apply directly, then apply the paste to the guaze and wrap around the area.
  2. Facial mask - no more than once a week as it can be drying.  Mask turns a bright green.
  3. Mineral bath for arthritis and muscle pain or skin irritation- Add 1/2 cup to a warm/hot bath.
