Agarwood from Aromatics

Agarwood

Aquilaria crassna

Description

We feel so fortunate to offer this precious, organically crafted essential oil as it is one of the more difficult oils to procure. The cost of the raw material used to make this oil is 10-15 times more expensive than the raw material used to make jasmine absolute. As this oil ages, the aroma deepens.

(Note: if you want to try this essential oil without spending a fortune, we also offer a 10% dilution in jojoba oil.)

Organically crafted agarwood essential oil is steam distilled from a dark resinous heartwood found in two species of large evergreen trees, Aquilaria and Gyrinops, typically found in Asian countries. The heartwood used to make this essential oil is formed when the tree is attacked by a certain fungus, ascomycetous mold. The wood, normally pale in color and with an almost odorless smell, produces a dark, aromatic oleoresin in response to the attack of the mold. This resin works to rid the heartwood of the fungus, and in doing so turns the wood a dark, rich, beautiful color. Inevitably the tree dies. This natural cycle is what creates the beautiful, complex aromatic profile of agarwood that is so highly coveted around the world.

Agarwood essential oil has a myriad of therapeutic applications (some are mentioned below); this oil is used by aromatherapists to help relieve:

  • anxiety and overthinking
  • depression
  • digestive issues
  • spastic muscle cramping
  • water retention
  • unwanted microbial growth

Agarwood essential oil also has exceptional emotional and energetic qualities, such as:

  • helping to diminish fear
  • aiding in removing destructive and negative internal energy
  • heightening overall awareness
  • providing creative inspiration and insight
  • improving mental clarity
  • opening the third eye and all upper chakras
  • working as an aphrodisiac

Agarwood is a highly sought after commodity as it used globally in incense and perfume making. Unfortunately sustainability of the Aquilaria and Gyrinops species is at risk, as poachers often go into the forest and scrape off the bark of these trees in order to purposefully infect heartwood with the fungus and illegally harvest the resulting agarwood.

In order to provide a pure, ethically crafted agarwood essential oil, we have partnered with a producer who not only prioritizes making a beautiful, organically crafted product, but who ensures that the raw material cultivated for distillation is ethically and sustainably harvested.

Why do we love our essential oils?

  • we personally know and trust our producers (and love them!)
  • we know the exact distillation dates of each EO batch (to guarantee freshness)
  • we make sure batch of oil is tested to guarantee purity and consistency
  • GC/MS reports are available for each batch of oil, so blending using chemical components is incredibly accurate

Oh Goodness, is this oil WONDERFUL !!!!!!
I have had my eye on the 10% blend for the past couple of months. When I saw the pure essential oil come in, I knew I had to have it. I have had the oil for three days. When I first got it, I opened it and kept wanting to open it and smell it. I love the aroma, wonderful. So after running around like a little kid with a new toy, I took one drop, added it to about a nickel size of whipped shea and placed it on my chakras and sacral area-pure relaxing, grounding heaven. I was surrounded by this safe and comforting aroma.I have repeated this every evening since. it takes very little to get the wonderful effects. This oil is worth every penny! i am thinking about getting a second 15 ml bottle because this oil will be so helpful for so many people in my practice. i don't want to ever be without it! Thank you Aromatics!
