St John's Wort Hydrosol

Hypericum perforatum

Our certified organic St. John’s Wort hydrosol is steam distilled from the yellow-flowered Hypericum perforatum plant, commonly known as St. John’s Wort. This hydrosol has an earthy, herbaceous, balsamic aroma and tastes somewhat green and dry with tones reminiscent of herbal tea. Although the benefits of St. John’s Wort are still being researched, it has traditionally been used for centuries for its medicinal and mood-boosting properties.

According to Suzanne Catty, author of Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy, St. John’s Wort hydrosol has shown to have mild euphoriant properties. It has proven very useful in cases of asthenia and seasonal affective disorder. She recommends adding St. John’s Wort hydrosol to a glass of water and keeping it beside your bed during the winter.
