How are your oils packaged?

In a wholesale order, the essential oils might be packaged in a protected box instead of the small bubble bags. All packing peanuts used are made from corn starch and a fully sustainable.

Our shipping charges are based on the weight of your order, and where it is being shipped. For more information on shipping, including free shipping options, see our Shipping & Returns page.

What if I want to change/cancel my order after it has been placed?

Our orders are processed quickly. Cancellations must be within 2 hours following order completion. Please contact our customer service team at team@aromatics.com or 406-273-9833.

What is your return policy?

At Aromatics International, providing the highest quality products to our customers is our passion, and we want our customers to love our products as much as we do. Something not quite right? Get in touch and we will happily pay return shipping costs from the US within 45 days of purchase. For more information please see our Shipping & Returns page.

What kind of a container are the bulk oils shipped in, and how do I open these containers?

All the bulk oils are packed in special aluminum bottles. To open these aluminum bottles take a pair of pliers and open the white plastic tab. Then there will be a clear plug with a ring. Don't use your fingers or pliers to pull the ring, gently use the pliers to remove the plug along the edge of the bottle, go slow and it is easy. Occassionally 4 and 8 ounce amber glass bottles might be used for the same sized oils ordered.

You can replug the bottle, but ultimately you want to pour your oil into glass bottles. You can store it in the aluminum for a month or more as it is a non-reactive substance that all the distillers use for shipping, but glass is always most ideal for oils.

When will my order be processed?

Most orders will be processed and mailed within 24-72 hours of placing your order. Processing of your order does not include shipping time. We do offer a number of shipping options that we promise to process same day for US domestic shipments or next day for international shipments. For more information please see our Shipping & Returns page.

Product & Safety Questions

Are essential oils safe for kids?

Essential oils can be wonderful for children! We recommend only using essential oils on kids above the age of 5, as children are more delicate and can be harmed by the very concentrated chemical constituents found within the oils. Their systems are simply unable to process some essential oils effectively.

From ages 5-10, essential oils may be used by diluting them with carrier oils. We recommend a 1-2 percent dilution rate, meaning 5-12 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier. The younger the child, the lower the dilution rate. A 5 yr old recommended dilution would be a 1% whereas an older 8-10 yr old might be more towards the 2% blend, depending on the child's constitution and weight.

Carrier oils, butters, and hydrosols are safe and wonderful for use on any age of child! It is best always to test a small area first.

Are essential oils safe for older folks?

We have so much love for the ones who have paved the way for us! Naturally, within the aging process, those who have delicate and fragile skin will have more things to be aware of when beginning the use of essential oils.

Be sure to always contact your healthcare provider before using essential oil, as it could have adverse effects if used in conjunction with prescribed medication.

But of course, aromatherapy can be wonderful and renewing at any age! We do recommend using a 1-2 percent dilution rate for our seniors, meaning one should provide 1-2 ounces of carrier product with 5-10 drops of essential oil.

Are your oils organic?

All of Aromatics International’s essential oils are either certified organic, wildcrafted, or organically crafted. All of our oils and natural aromatherapy products are free of chemicals, herbicides, and pesticides. This supports the health and vitality of the soil, the plant, and therefore the essential oil itself.

Can we use your oils internally?

Here at Aromatics International, we test all our oils with GC/MS, and all the oils we buy are distilled from plants that are either certified organic, organically grown, or wildcrafted. All are grown without the use of chemical pesticides. We have great respect for all methods of use when it comes to essential oils. With a good education about essential oils, essential oil chemistry, physiology, and safety considerations, we believe all applications (topical, inhalation, and internal) have their place. Read more about our approach to aromatherapy here.

Do I need to keep my carrier products inside of the refrigerator?

The preference is yours! Carrier oils do have the tendency to solidify or coagulate, forming small solids in cool temperatures. You may want to store them at room temperature or place in warm water so they are easier to work with after refrigeration.

We do recommend you refrigerate aloe vera, as it is not an oil and does best in these cooler temperatures.

Do I need to keep my essential oils in the refrigerator?

The choice is completely up to you! We do advise keeping your oils in a cool, dark location and away from direct sunlight to reduce the risk of oxidation.

Do I need to keep my hydrosols inside of the refrigerator?

Refrigerating your hydrosols is a great idea! For each of our products, you should place them in a cool, dark location and keep them away from direct sunlight. If you wish, hydrosols can be frozen, keeping in mind that hydrosol and liquids alike expand up to 10 percent when frozen, which could possibly result in a broken glass bottle.

Do you offer free samples of your products?

We do not have samples at this time, but stay tuned for updates! We do carry a 5 mL size of most of our essential oils.

Do your hydrosols contain lead?

The copper still that we use for our own lavender distillation doesn’t contain the lead soldering that is in question. So we feel very thankful about this.

For our other hydrosols, we do only offer hydrosols that are distilled from organically grown plants and crafted under strict protocols. Our distillers do extensive testing of their hydrosols and they also do not use the copper stills in question. So the hydrosols we offer are not affected by this issue.

We fully support the work that Ann Harman is doing and are very appreciative of her knowledge and ongoing research.

How do I know the products you carry are 100% pure, natural, and free of chemicals and pesticides?

In order for essential oils to have a therapeutic effect we believe they must be pure plant extracts. The best way to assure the purity of each batch of oil is by testing the oil with Gas Chromatography/ Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). At Aromatics International every batch of oil purchased from a distiller or distributor is tested with GC/MS. We only buy from distillers and distributers who sell oils extracted from plants that have not been sprayed or treated with any chemicals.

I am confused on the storage of essential oil blends. Can I use a PET bottle to store blends in jojoba or with other carriers?

Yes, you can absolutely use PET plastic to store blends that are in a carrier oil, but we prefer using glass bottles.

If you haven’t already checked it out, we have a lovely blending and recipe section on our website!

I live in a very warm climate. Will the products being sent to me be safe from the effects of outside heat?

Because our products are packaged in a box and are not sitting in direct sunlight, they should remain safe and unharmed until you are able to open this order. If you have purchased a solid carrier from us, the carrier will melt if left in the heat. Once it is placed in a cool, dark location, it will resolidify.

If I have diluted essential oils in a carrier, can I store the blend in a glass bottle with a rubber dropper top?

Essential oils, blended or not, do not do well when in contact with rubber. The oils will eat away at the rubber and parts of the rubber might break down into the oil blend. For proper storage, use a regular cap without the rubber dropper.

What are your prices based on?

The pricing of essential oils is based on the amount of oil in the plant and how easily the oil can be extracted from the plant as well as ensuring that the oils sourced match an optimal therapeutic profile.

You don't offer the products I'm looking for, what should I do?
