Lemon Verbena Hydrosol

Aloysia citrodora

Our certified organic lemon verbena hydrosol is steam distilled from the vibrant green leaves of the Aloysia citrodora plant cultivated in the USA. This hydrosol has a delicate lemon aroma that is gentle, fresh, and balancing. It is a highly energetic hydrosol, which we often see in low-yielding plants. Lemon verbena hydrosol has powerful calming, sedative properties and makes a great mental relaxant and can help alleviate that tense, “knot in the stomach” feeling. It is also great for using on the skin as well as in the body as a general wellness tonic.

Lemon verbena hydrosol has been known to be a useful digestive aid and commonly used as a tonic. It is also believed to help stimulate the endocrine system, especially the thyroid and pancreas. It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, with a strong affinity for the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose, making it great for use as a daily mouthwash, as well.

Lemon verbena hydrosol is lovely for clarifying the skin. Its stimulating and uplifting nature make it perfect for facial toners and cleansers, after shower sprays, and more. It even can help with acne issues! Suzanne Catty, author of Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy, recommends combining lemon verbena hydrosol with rock rose, frankincense, or cornflower to help refine skin texture and promote reduced pore size. She also suggests adding lavender, peppermint, or sandalwood to this hydrosol to make an after-shave spray that men will love!
