My Aromatherapy Pantry FAQs

Get answers to common questions about how your pantry works, from tracking product shelf life to accessing GC/MS reports.

Why don’t I see all of my products listed in My Pantry?

My Aromatherapy Pantry launched on September 5, 2025, so only products purchased after that date will automatically appear. If you can’t find something, it may have been purchased earlier or under a different email address. Accessories and non-expiring items may also be excluded.

What should I do with expired essential oils?

Expired oils can still be enjoyed in non-therapeutic ways, such as for household cleaning, crafting, or scenting drawers and potpourri. For safety, avoid using them on your skin or in blends intended for wellness once they’ve passed their shelf life.

What happens when an essential oil expires?

Over time, oils naturally oxidize and change in aroma, color, or thickness. This can reduce their therapeutic benefits and, in some cases, increase the risk of skin irritation.

Are expired oils safe to use?

Expired oils may still be safe for cleaning or scenting projects, but they are not recommended for topical or wellness use. Always exercise caution—especially with oils high in monoterpenes (like citrus oils), which oxidize quickly.

How do you determine a product’s shelf life?

Shelf life is based on the oil’s chemistry, storage conditions, and stability testing. Each product page includes a recommended shelf life, and your Pantry tracks these dates so you know when it’s time to refresh your stock.

Why don’t carriers, blends, or hydrosols have GC/MS test results available?

GC/MS testing is specific to essential oils. Since carriers, blends, and hydrosols are different types of products, they are not tested using GC/MS. Instead, they are evaluated through other quality and purity methods.

What is GC/MS testing?

Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) testing is a trusted scientific method used to analyze essential oils. It identifies each component of an oil and verifies its purity, quality, and authenticity. We provide these reports for every essential oil so you can see exactly what’s in your bottle and trust in its therapeutic value.
