Castor Oil (organically grown) from Aromatics

Castor Oil (organically grown)

Ricinus Communis

Description

Our Castor oil is crafted in India and is created by subjecting the Castor bean to the cold-press process. The resulting oil is a pale, yellowish color with a faint odor. After the bean is pressed, the oil is filtered to remove any resulting debris. Castor oil, being very emollient, helps the skin retain moisture and is used as a binding agent and lubricant. Rich in Ricinoleic acid, (over 85%), Castor oil has surprising benefits as it is known to deeply penetrate the skin. Famous for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, many sources say it can penetrate up to 4 inches

Suggested qualities and applications include:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antifungal
  • Antibacterial
  • Emollient
  • Pain relieving

Interesting notes: Ricin, a toxic lectin that naturally occurs in the castor bean is a deadly poison. Ricin is not transmitted through the pressing process and the finished Castor oil does not contain this dangerous substance.

A typical chemical composition is:

89.5% Ricinoleic acid
 4.2% Linoleic Acid
  3.0% Oleic Aci
 1.05% Stearic Acid
 1.0% Palmitic Acid
 0 .7% Dihydroxystearic Acid
 0.3% Eicosanoic Acid
