Safety & Warnings
Bergamot is phototoxic. However, when it is diluted to 2 drops or less per 1 oz (30 ml) of carrier oil, it falls within established safety guidelines and is considered safe for skin that may be exposed to sunlight or UV light. If you use more than 2 drops per 1 oz (30 ml), avoid sunlight, tanning beds, and other UV exposure on the applied area for up to 18 hours as it can cause serious burns. When blending Bergamot with other phototoxic essential oils, be sure the combined amount stays within recommended safety limits.
