Our organically crafted spikenard essential oil is produced from sustainably wildcrafted roots of a plant in the Valerian family that grows high in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal. These plants come from a forest that is carefully managed by the Nepalese government. Globally, there is considerable debate whether spikenard essential oil should be produced at all since the plant is now on the critically endangered species list. Currently, we have decided to continue sourcing this oil from our distiller in Nepal due to the careful, sustainable way they go about harvesting the roots from live plants in a rotation that does not hurt or damage the life cycle of the plant. Since we know where our spikenard oil comes from and that it is sustainably produced, we are honored to be able to offer this precious essential oil. However, in order to help preserve these amazing plants as much as possible, we choose to use our spikenard essential oil rarely and sparingly.
