White Turmeric Oil
Curcuma zedoaria roscoe
White turmeric is in the ginger family, and has much in common with ginger itself. (It’s more like ginger than like yellow turmeric). White turmeric’s energizing scent is warm, spicy, and woody with a eucalyptus-like note. It has an affinity for the belly, and for warming and comforting the muscles and joints. Our wildcrafted white turmeric essential oil (also called “kachur” and “zedoary”) is steam distilled from the rhizomes of flowering plants in the Terai belt of Nepal—a flat, lowland, swampy region in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Benefits and uses
More bitter than ginger, this intensely aromatic rhizome distilled from the beautiful Curcuma zedoaria roscoe plant, creates a spicy-warm, woody, slightly camphoraceous, cineolic (eucalyptus-like) aroma that is often used in perfumery. Along with supporting a healthy digestive system, white turmeric essential oil is often used for indigestion, gassy conditions such as colic and flatulence, and for treating and preventing ulcers. We also like to use this oil to help ease conditions of a constrictive, tight, painful nature, such as cramps and sprains. White turmeric is a beautiful and rare essential oil and is more like ginger than our yellow turmeric oil.
Emotionally and energetically, white turmeric essential oil is stimulating and may help bring clarity and perspective. It is also believed to help with depression and ease mental stress.
