Yarrow Hydrosol

Achillea millefolium

Our certified organic yarrow hydrosol is steam distilled from the flowers of Achillea millefolium plants cultivated here in the USA. This hydrosol has a sweet, herbaceous, floral aroma that is stronger than our wildcrafted yarrow artisan hydrosol. Its taste is somewhat medicinal. Yarrow hydrosol is a very balancing and calming hydrosol that can have many benefits for the skin and body. Yarrow hydrosol is also sometimes used for healing skin issues on animals, when used where it cannot be ingested.

Yarrow is known for its ability to help stop bleeding. Along with its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, it makes a useful wound cleanser. Try combining it with calendula and helichrysum hydrosols to help with the healing of the wounds, too. Yarrow is also anti-inflammatory and can help soothe skin irritations. Spray it on your skin for burns, sunburns, bug bites, stings, or after shaving. Many consider yarrow as the first choice of hydrosols for relieving the itching and irritation of eczema and psoriasis. Yarrow hydrosol may also help with reducing rheumatic pain.

Suzanne Catty, author of Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy, recommends using yarrow hydrosol as a compress for varicose veins. She also says it can help stabilize body fluids by helping to get rid of excess fluids.

Yarrow hydrosol is a very versatile hydrosol that can help with a variety of things. You can use it alone or mix it with other hydrosols or essential oils for your powerhouse blend. It plays well with others!
