Coping with change is an inevitable part of life. No matter how big or small, the events that catalyze change in our lives can have a significant impact on us mentally, physically, and spiritually, especially those such as deep loss, like the death of a loved one or pet, the end of a relationship or job, or the closing of a significant life chapter. The transition process is often long and challenging. In fact, for some, it may seem like getting back to “normal” isn’t possible. The emotional toll seems to linger, sometimes even surfacing years later, because, let’s face it, letting go of painful things is easier said than done.

But did you know that essential oils can offer effective support when you are going through difficult transitions? It’s true, and we want to show you how these pure, divine treasures from nature can bring healing comfort when your heart and mind need some serious TLC.

How Essential Oils Can Help with Transitions

Essential oils are often used to heal various conditions with regards to the physical terrain holistically. From cuts and bruises to painful inflammation and itchy rashes, there is no limit to the things essential oils can help with on our bodies. But did you know essential oils can help heal the emotional and energetic terrains, as well?

Here are a few of the ways essential oils can offer much-needed support during periods of transition and change:

It’s no secret that we love our essential oils here at Aromatics International. We have spent countless hours researching and using every single one of our oils first-hand and can attest to their remarkable effectiveness. We get to know all of our oils by heart, and we love to share what we learn with you. It is our passion! We also love crafting blends and have included two recipes at the end of this blog, formulated by our Certified Aromatherapist Team.

Before we get into recipes, let’s explore some of our favorite essential oils to use during periods of transition as well as what kind of support they offer.

1. Cedarwood Oil (Juniperus virginiana)

This beautiful, woodsy, earthy, slightly balsamic essential oil encourages the ability to hold steady and persevere, supports confidence, and promotes grounding when facing challenging situations. Cedarwood also helps reduce situational depression and anxiety.

2. Eucalyptus Globulus Oil (Eucalyptus globulus)

This intensely aromatic, woodsy, fresh, camphoraceous essential oil supports mental clarity and reduces patterns of negative thinking. Eucalyptus is uplifting and can help increase vitality, which is so supportive during challenging times. We also love using our Eucalyptus Radiata Oil, as it has similar energetic properties.

3. Larch Tamarack Oil (Larix laricina)

This fresh, earthy, woodsy, piney essential oil strengthens the heart and mind and provides fortitude during challenging times. Larch can help revitalize a dampened spirit and usher in a time of renewal.

4. May Chang Oil (Litsea cubeba)

May Chang Oil’s soft, lemony scent can both lift your spirit and help you slip into deep relaxation. Use it in blends to work tension out of your muscles, and release worries from your mind. May chang is especially useful for keeping your energy up during stressful times.

5. Lemongrass ct Rhodinol Oil (Cymbopogon citratus ct. rhodinol)

This herbaceous, lemony essential oil is so comforting, relaxing, and uplifting during difficult emotional transitions. Lemongrass can also help to energize the mind and reduce fatigue.

6. Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia)

This sparkling, deliciously sweet, citrusy essential oil brings sunshine and light to the mind, body, and spirit. Lime works to refresh and uplift, providing needed support during periods of situational depression and anxiety.

7. Rose Otto Oil (Rosa x damascena)

This gorgeous, sweet, deeply rosy essential oil is one of our favorites for healing the heart and mind during times of despair and loss. Rose can ease shock and grief, relieve tension and agitation, and provide welcome support during times of situational depression and anxiety. Rose also helps return lost self-esteem and increase feelings of self-love, making it particularly supportive after a serious relationship ends. Our beautiful Rose Absolute Oil is another great (and slightly less expensive) choice!

8. Rosemary ct Camphor Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis ct camphor)

This strong, herbaceous, woodsy essential oil promotes the clearing of negativity and encourages a positive outlook. Rosemary ct camphor also energizes and uplifts the mind during challenging times.

9. Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album)

This sensual, sweet, woodsy, slightly balsamic essential oil is deeply supportive of the emotional and energetic terrains. Sandalwood is encouraging and protective. It promotes inner unity and self-acceptance as well as encourages deeper mindfulness and meditation.

10. Vetiver Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides)

This deep, earthy, woodsy essential oil is so balancing, grounding, and protective. Vetiver is restorative and can provide gentle sedation when additional emotional support is needed. Vetiver can also help us connect with the natural, positive energy all around us.
